Our Proposal For Regulation

A Proposed Solution

To address the concerns surrounding regulation, ethical considerations, bodily autonomy and informed consent we propose The Male Circumcision Regulation Act. This will allow stringent safeguards, regulations and guidance to ensure that boys have autonomy over their own genitals and are able to make their own decisions relating to their bodies. The Male Circumcision Regulation Act seeks to:

  • Prohibit non-therapeutic circumcision on minors under the age of 16, ensuring that individuals can make an informed decision about their own bodies.
  • Require that circumcision for those aged 16 and over is performed only with full, informed, and voluntary consent.
  • Ensure that any circumcision is conducted only by a registered medical professional in an approved medical facility, regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with appropriate safety measures.
  • Establish criminal penalties for violations, aligning with existing laws on bodily harm.
